USC + creative commons?
i’ve used a creative commons “Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 License” for this site. i’m a little sad to admit that after several graduate students i’ve talked about doing this site responding with concerns about loosing control of their intellectual property [the ever present graduate student fear that someone will write your dissertation before you do, which i don’t quite understand], i am a bit worried about putting my ideas out into the ether.
so, the question is, can i put a Creative Commons license on a personal webpage hosted by my University? do USC have the right to copyright all of my work [not that they’d bother to, its not like i’m producing something patentable here]? but does USC’s copyright control prohibit me from assigning my own copylefted copyright? i’m curious and should find out.
