economic geography

now that i'm finally finishing a DR from last summer (which was sidelined by a breaking my collarbone in 2 1/2 places), its time to start a new one.

this DR (which i just found out meaning "directed research," not "directed reading" like i thought) will be on Economic Geography, of which i know next to nothing. although i do like thinking about economy stuff and geography. so i need to come up with the right question to ask and the right readings to begin to answer it. i think i'll try starting with a few key texts from my advisor and using citeUlike and graph scholar to explode them and see what looks interesting. if all goes well this will be a quals question.

the question:
[look to diss proposal, see where i want to fit this in]

the readings:

...old stuff / orgins
Schumpter (1939) Business Cycles
kondratieff?
keynes?

...key texts
?

...texts specific to question
?

Economic Geography: Directed Reading List

if the "network society experiment" works well, will use the same process to develop a reading list for economic geography for the summer.

book: "The Success of Open Source," Stever Weber

just got the book in the mail today ... looking forward to reading, kinda liked a working paper from BRIE (Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy he wrote called The Political Economy of Open-Source Software, but i didn't like his talk at USC on "online communities." [re-read notes and explain] either way, what he has to say about FOSS is insightful, should be an interesting read.
